The number of state employees in new jersey who make more than $100,000 nearly doubled between 2006 and 2008. An analysis of payroll records by the Asbury Park Press finds 4,422 employees earn six figures. The newspaper says while the number of public employees dropped 5.5 percent, their salaries grew 5.7 percent. That compares to an average of 3 percent in the private sector.
